Eduroam (eduroam is an abbreviation for educational roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community in higher education. The European eduroam confederation (a confederation of autonomous roaming services) is based on a set of defined organizational and technical requirements that each member of the confederation must agree to (by signing the eduroam policy) and follow.

The users of an eduroam member institution can use their username and password to connect to another member institution's eduroam wireless network..

Turkish Naval Academy has been incorporated into the eduroam system as the 78th institution.

Eduroam has a federation hierarchy. There are still two confederations in the world: European eduroam confederation and Asia-Pacific (APAN) eduroam confederation. Eduroam institutions send queries to eduroam federations in their own countries and confederations to which the federations of the countries are affiliated. Every new federation that participates in the European eduroam confederation and the APAN confederation to which Turkey is affiliated and every new institution that participates in them can be recognized by everyone involved by this hierarchy.
